In Environmental Science, we will learn about Iowa and its connection to insects and plants. This week we will be reviewing at every grade level.
They will be reviewing the Iowa State sheet in preparation for the test after the CRCT. Students will also begin our look at the Ladybug.
We will also continue our study of flowers and their part in pollination.
We will also continue our study of grasshoppers and there anatomy in preparation for the test after the CRCT. I will also be checking that they still have the grasshopper wheel we worked on before
We will also continue our study of the Honeybee life cycle and anatomy for a test after the CRCT.
1st and 2nd graders will complete their "4-Part Technology Project".
This project was created to help students review skills learned throughout
this school year. The first part instructs them to color using an online
interactive coloring book called ABCya. The second and third part will
involve them using OpenOffice Text Document and Presentation to type,
format text, and design a slideshow. Using an online comic creator,
students will be able to create their own comic with Arthur and his
3rd and 4th graders will begin presenting their "Technology Device
Projects". Students will be called in random order, instructed to log
into their Prezi account, and asked to begin presenting by introducing
themselves and their device. Students who missed time to work on their
projects, will be given extra time to complete their projects in class.
The eighth grade is continuing its robotic programming lessons where they are programming specific autonomous movements. They will be in groups that will have specific movements.
The Seventh grade students at D.A.T.E. have begun learning Java Script! They are learning to use this exciting and powerful scripting language to manipulate web pages.
Sixth grade students are continuing their studies in Pre-Engineering and AutoCAD. They will begin to focus on fillet, extend, trim, and chamfer commands.
Our lovely fifth grade class is learning to frame video shots effectively. They are shooting video that they will then use to learn basic video editing using IMovie.
Our Aquaponics system is recovering from the freezing temperatures we had last month and we are planning for the return of spring by shoring up the systems health and nutrient levels. We plan to introduce the Tilapia that we have been raising this winter in the next coming months.
